M膩nawatia a Matariki
M膧NAWATIA A MATARIKI FROM NORTHCOTE COLLEGE 鉁 听
During the last week of term, we gathered before dawn to mark Matariki with a moving hautapu ceremony (celebrating early before the term break!).
With the Matariki stars glinting clearly over Rangitoto, Matua Stan Conrad opened the ceremony, and students Waihuia Thein, Krystal Hill, and Joelle Young led karakia. Together, we remembered loved ones lost over the past year.
We concluded with te wh膩ngai i ng膩 whet奴 (feeding the stars), opening the h膩ngi to let the steam rise to the sky, before heading into our incredible new K Block hospitality suite. There, we shared a stunning breakfast representing the domains of the stars鈥攆rom the land, the fresh waters, and the sea.
A beautiful way to remember the past, celebrate the present, and look to the future. Thank you to everyone who听 arranged this wonderful event, and to all who shared this beautiful morning with us.
